Democracy...................... I always fail to understand democracy, i read in my civil textbooks of yester years that its a system of government for the people,by the people and etc etc.I am not sure if they have changed any definitions as yet. When thousands and thousands of people(educated and necessay citizens of india at that), protesting against a proposal initiated to give admissions on higher learning centers by the caste into which they were born into, are not given any respect, how can we call ourselves democratic? Is the voice of one 'peoples representative' more final than the voice one million people affected by his voice? Shouldnt the original drafters of the constitution have considered the contigency of these representatives not passing any laws agaisnt themselves? If they can pass laws according to their whims and fancies, i feel we should take a referendum for important policy decisions to be voted by non-political ordinary citizens with intellegence.I know, he...

Big Boss Season 4 :Happy to have wasted my time on this !!! :) I am seeing this season of Big Boss Tamil S4 from the very week as a very objective, observant and unbiased viewer. I understand that it is just a TV show at the end of the day, but it is also a microcosm of society and life in general, I did not even know half the people in that show since I do not follow Tamil cinema/TV industry to a level of an average Tamil person. My General Knowledge in that area is pretty abysmal. Yet, I became an Aari fan in the course of the show and did not start out as one. My aim is not to belittle others but just to celebrate this human who exhibited the qualities that is very much needed to go through life. Someone think why people are crazy of him, the contestants are not able to comprehend why people love him, and they are not even able to accept that many people love him (more than 50% of the votes were for him at the very least for a fact). If you do want to understand why this migh...
What is film rating? or why bother with one? As far as I understand it is an indicator for the subset of human population that can see the movie, especially useful to understand if a parent can or cannot let their children see some contents, one need not follow the film ratings to take their children to movies, it is their discretionary power on how they choose to raise their children. Please remember the last line before getting unobjective about what I write next because this is purely my personal opinion and you need not worry about doing anything different than what you are responsibly doing already for your wards and children. So, I saw this movie called Barbie a few weeks ago with my 8-year-old daughter and found it extremely wholesome except for a few references to body parts and when I recommended that movie, I was asked if it was age appropriate, in Australia it is rated PG. By the way, the movie was banned in certain countries that do not see gun as a violence but a fundame...

And as a new parent, I see what you say. In fact, we get stared at when we say that we don't have a tv or an ipad, or that neither our iPhones have any baby apps installed or that our son would actually sit with us and have his meal. But the truth remains that all those are possible. We both believe that introducing any non natural element invariably restrict the kid's ability to invent methods for interacting with his environment. To the extent we even refrain from getting him battery powered toys! And just watching him come up with ways to do things never ceases to amaze us.
If he picks up on his instincts, most of technology would be a natural extension of this instinct. At least we don't envision him to be a code jock like us meaning he'd probably grow up amidst self driving cars and oculus rifts and other mixed reality world, so there is really no argument introducing technology early on to any kid!
Just ny thoughts. Hope to read more of your writing.
